ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the attitudes and demands of parents of children in Luzhou towards family based child sexual abuse prevention education.@*Methods@#A self administered anonymous questionnaire survey was conducted among parents of children in Luzhou City who were selected from stratified cluster sampling. Multiple linear regression model was used to analyze parents attitudes.@*Results@#Parents attitude towards prevention of sexual assault education was positive (average score 16.70± 3.67 ). The results of multiple regression analysis showed that parents of only child ( β =0.30), parents who participated in related activities ( β =1.28), communicated with relatives and friends ( β =0.81), and lived in urban areas ( β =0.49) had more positive attitudes. In terms of parental factors, average annual family income higher than 100 000 yuan ( β =0.39), mothers of young children ( β =0.88), and parents with a high level of knowledge about sexual assault prevention education ( β =0.98), the mother being a teacher or a medical staff ( β =0.52), and educational background of the mother being high school/secondary school ( β =1.03), college/undergraduate or above ( β =1.42) were associated with more positive attitudes( P <0.01). The results of demand analysis showed that parents had high demand for child s self protection (96.86%).@*Conclusion@#Parents of young children in Luzhou City show generally positive attitude and high demand towards family based sexual abuse prevention. Knowledge training and publicity regarding child sexual abuse should be improved for children who had siblings, from rural and township areas, and whose parents with low educational background.

ABSTRACT

This study was designed to obtain recombinant human thioredoxin (rhTXN) by gene cloning and prokaryotic expression, and evaluated its therapeutic effect in the mouse ulcerative colitis (UC) model induced by dextran sulfate sodium (DSS). The human thioredoxin gene TXN was cloned from the cDNA of Jurkat cells. The recombinant expression plasmid pCold TF-rhTXN was constructed by restriction enzyme digestion. After expression in E. coli BL21 (DE3), recombinant human thioredoxin was purified by a nickel column. Intact rhTXN recombinant protein was obtained after removal of the fusion partner-tag by enzyme digestion and the activity of disulfide reductase was detected by the insulin reduction method. The animal experiments in this study were performed in accordance with the ethical guidelines of the Laboratory Animal Welfare Ethical Review Committee of Nanjing University. Experiment ulcerative colitis was induced by providing mice with sterilized drinking water which contained 3% DSS. rhTXN was injected intraperitoneally. The therapeutic effect was studied by weight change, colon length and HE (hematoxylin and eosin) stained sections. In vivo imaging was used to study the targeting of rhTXN to DSS mice. The GSE107499 data set of GEO database was used to screen the hub genes at the lesional sites of UC and study the correlation with TXN. The experimental results showed that rhTXN was successfully expressed and purified with disulfide reductase activity. rhTXN (100 μg·kg-1) had a significant therapeutic effect on maintaining the weight change of mice (P = 0.000 5) and reducing intestinal injury (P < 0.000 1), and had a colon targeting effect on DSS mice. In GSE107499 data set, TXN in inflammatory sites of UC patients was significantly down regulated (P < 0.01) and negatively correlated with hub gene CD40 (P < 0.01) and positively correlated with hub gene fibronectin 1 (FN1) (P < 0.01). In this study, biologically active rhTXN was successfully prepared and proved to have a promising therapeutic effect on the DSS mouse model, and TXN gene was significantly correlated with the UC hub genes CD40 and FN1.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the clinical features and prognosis in patients with nephrotic syndrome (NS) complicated with cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST). Methods: The clinical data of 14 patients with NS complicated with CVST admitted in the departments of neurology and nephrology, Jinling Hospital, Nanjing, China from January 2007 to January 2011 were analyzed retrospectively. The clinical manifestations, imaging, laboratory tests, therapeutic management and follow-up results of the patients were analyzed. Results: Circled digit oneThe age range of the patients was 13-62 years old (mean age, 31 ± 16). Their main clinical manifestations were headache, vomiting, motor dysfunction, and seizures. Circled digit twoCT/MRI/MRV suggested that the positive ratio of CVST was 13/14. Under the circumstances of failing to diagnose by MRI, 1 patient was diagnosed by DSA. The sites of lesion were mainly in the superior sagittal sinus, followed by the transverse sinus. Circled digit threeSerum albumin of 12 patients was less than 25 g/L, and plasma fibrinogen of 8 patients was higher than 4 g/L. Circled digit four14 patients were followed up for 12-60 months (mean 29 ± 14 months). Head MRI/MRV was reexamined in 8 patients, 6 of them showed recanalization of originally occluded vein or venous sinus. Clinical cure were happened in 13 patients (mRS 0); only 1 patient had headache (mRS 1). There was no recurrence of CVST found. Conclusion: If the patients with NS experience headache, motor dysfunction, and seizures, neuroimaging examination should be performed timely in order to identify whether it is CVST or not. Early diagnosis and early anticoagulant therapy may have a good outcome for patients complicated with CVST.

ABSTRACT

AIM:To analyse the risk factors of age, sex, course, best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),diopter and fundus features of high myopes with progressive high myopia. METHODS: A total of 167 patients with high myopes were categorized into four groups: group 1,age of 29 years or younger; group 2,between the age of 30 to 49 years; group 3,between the age of 50 to 69 years and group 4,age of 70 years or older. The refractive errors of all patients were measured without cycloplegia with an autorefractometer. Data of the spherical equivalent(SE) of the refractive errors in diopters (D)and fundus examed by direct ophthalmoscope were used in statistical analyses.RESULTS: The number of female was statistically larger than that of male(P<0.01),also the disease course was correlated to the age. The visual acuity of high myopes significantly decreased as they grew older including the higher incidence of lacquer cracker, submacular hemorrhage, Fuchs spots, chorioretinal atrophy . CONCLUSION: Female maybe a risk factor of high myopia, advanced age is an important factor of visual acuity decrease. High myopes ought to be treated early to delay the progress of myopia and development of macular degeneration.
